Central Coast Comicon is the major annual fundraising event for local youth service Regional Youth Support Services. Part of our event focus is on the talents of Artists and Illustrators and we want to inspire all the young artists, illustrators, and creatives to showcase their talents at Central Coast Comicon! 
 
For the second time we are hosting the - Design an 'OC' (Original Character) Competition. This is for all the young people who love drawing manga or fantasy art and it's open to all creative mediums.  
 
The Design and OC Comp is open to young artists 8 - 25 and there will be 3 age categories for judging.

13 - 16 years 

17 - 25 years 

 
All entries will be exhibited at the Central Coast Comicon event on Saturday 27th May 2023 at The Entertainment Grounds Gosford.  
 
Prizes 

Great creative prize packs from Derivan Art Supplies, FREE entry passes for Central Coast Comicon and Hoyts Movie Tickets are up for grabs! There will be a ‘First Place’ and ‘Highly Commended’ awarded in each age category.  
 
 

Terms and Conditions 

​

• Your OC has to be an original design that you have illustrated yourself - remember to sign your artwork!  
   

• It can be in the style of manga or fantasy art. 
   

• Your OC illustration needs to be on a white background and in vertical/portrait format. 
   

• You will have to upload a hi-res photo or scanned copy of your illustration to our application form. 
   

• One artwork only per entrant. 
   

• A copy of all entries will be exhibited at Central Coast Comicon.
   

• We will be verifying if your artwork is original content.  

 
 

Judging

Applications closed on Friday the 12th of May at 11:59 pm. 

​

Judging will take place on Monday 15th May and winners will be notified soon after.  

 

Artists awarded with a ‘First Place’ and ‘Highly Commended’ will receive a FREE Family Pass to attend the Central Coast Comicon event.

 

Creative Prize Packs will be awarded on stage at the event. 

 
 

Sharing to Social Media

We would love to share some of the entries to Central Coast Comicon Social Media. 

​

We take the privacy of young people seriously and we will not tag the artist in social media posts. 

​

The artist will only be mentioned by their first name/creative name and age in both the social media posts and the exhibition.
